“Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head…Follow me…” [Luke 9:58-59]
I could honestly end this post right there. That is what The Lord has been saying to me loud and clear.
Get up. Drop everything. Leave it all. Follow Me. Now.
So…that being said…exactly one month from today, I’ll be boarding a plane back to Cape Town, South Africa with no return ticket in sight.
I’m terrified, excited, curious, confused, happy, anxious, and at peace all at once.
I’m expecting nothing but so much at the same time.
I’ve known since I was there last year, that I had to go back. I just never knew when, and since Jesus wouldn’t tell me, I assumed it would be a while. But just as Jesus answered the man who asked if he could bury his father and then follow Him and just as He responded to the man who asked if he could say goodbye to his family and then follow Him, His answer is no. His time is now. He’s not very flexible. And so I go.
This would normally be the part of the blog where I would tell you all sorts of details and answer all of the questions most normal people would have. But, I don’t have many details and can’t even answer most of my own questions. I’m going 100% on faith; Because He said to. The only thing I know is that He knows more than I do, and I know Him. So I’m in good hands.
A year ago when I was there, He imparted into me His heart for two precious siblings who He loves so deeply in that city. And ever since, He’s been calling me back to them. I have no idea what that’s going to look like, but He says it’s time, so the adventure continues…
Basic housing with a host family, food, and transportation will cost approximately 11 US dollars per day. I’ll also need overseas insurance and would humbly accept donations towards my plane ticket too. If you feel at all led to support me in any of those areas, weekly, monthly, whatever, contact me!
Most importantly, though, is prayer!
Pray for me, for faith, trust, obedience, provision, protection, and health. Pray for guidance and answers and peace and community. Pray for deeper intimacy with the Father and for His love to flow through me. None of this is possible with my own strength, but it all is with His.
Pray for these loves of mine, Mariana and Stefan. Pray for their safety, for their caretakers, and for their health. Pray that they have food and clean water and a safe place to sleep at night. And pray for Jesus to continue capturing their hearts, despite of their circumstances.
And pray for South Africa. Pray for the nation God’s been showing me just how much He loves. Pray for revival, for an uprising, for laborers to hear the call and to go. Pray for Fellowship Bible School, for Pastor Danny, Principal Vivian, and for all their staff and kids.
Pray for the Lord’s will to be made clear, and to be done, whatever that may look like.
Thanks for the love and support,
Abby
