Hello from Honduras, everybody!

How are ya'll?
I'm great!

After 2 days in Georgia with my squad, we headed to Honduras last Tuesday morning. We arrived in the capital of Tegucigalpa around noon. Our contact, Tony, met us at the airport, bought us Little Caeser's for lunch, and then we piled ALL of our gear onto the tops of 2 vans, and headed to our home for the next 3 months…Zion's Gate Ministries.

We've spent most of this week really just relaxing and getting used to life here. The property, the food, the kids, the time, etc. The founder of Zion's Gate, Tony, and his wife Nidia, are absolutely amazing. They are so Spirit filled and passionate about what they do, and are giving us so many incredible opportunities for God to work through us over our 3 months here. The kids and teens that live here on the property are great. There are 6 boys live here full time, and lots of others that come and go throughout the day. They’re all so friendly and full of love and energy. Every single one of them was living in the garbage dumb in a nearby town called Los Pinos a year ago at this time. But not any more πŸ™‚ Most of this past week has just been about getting to know and loving on them.

Oh, and the ministry site has 2 dogs!! Randy and Chi! Randy goes running with a few of us girls every morning!

Today is our "free day," which means we're taken into the city to do whatever! It's the only day of the week we'll have interenet access during our time here. That'll be each Friday.

Monday through Thursday will be our main ministry days. Our 4 main ministries here are the village, Los Pinos, Zion's Gate, and the school. The village is where Nidia's family lives, and each of our teams will be spending a week there, ministering to the rural village people for a week at a time. No electricity. No running water. Dirt floors. It'll be interesting πŸ™‚ Los pinos is basically the garbage dump. It's urban. It's dangerous. It's poverty. I can't wait to see how God uses us there. Zion's Gate is our own property. During our weeks there, we will be cooking and cleaning for the whole squad, hanging out with the kids, working on projects for Tony, etc. And last but not least is the school. The school is a tiny tiny bilingual Spanish/English speaking school up high in the mountains, where we'll be teaching. And that is where my team was assigned for the first 2 weeks!

So…for the next 2 weeks, I am going to be teaching preschool! πŸ™‚

So, yeah, there's a lot going on! I'm mentoring a 12 year old boy, Fernando, reading the Bible in Spanish and English with him 3 times/day for our time here πŸ™‚ And then on Tuesday and Thursday nights we're all teaching English to adults.

Saturday is soccer ministry! (PLEASE ask me how pumped I am about that!)

And on Sundays, we're doing church in the streets! I'm also super duper excited about that.

I know this blog is super long and ALL over the place, but I wanted to give you all as much info as possible as soon as possible! The photo uploader isn't quite workin' right now, or else I'd have pics in here too! But they will be on Facebook, so check them out! It's absolutely beautiful here!

Love you all so dearly!
Praying for you guys at home each and every day!
